Systems Engineer - Circuits & Complexity

Our Client; a Globally operating Tier 1 Automotive company that specializes in the supply and manufacture of high technology electrical and electronic components, supplying most of the major Automotive OEM’s, are enjoying continued growth in terms of new projects. Given this rise in new business, their task now is to find experienced Systems Engineer (Circuits & Complexity) on a contract basis, people who can join their Electrical Distribution Systems Engineering Team, most likely located in Warwickshire. Offering a competitive (albeit negotiable and dependent upon relevant experience) hourly rate, these roles are available immediately.

Reporting to the Systems Engineering Team Leader, this role will see you involved in:

*Circuit Design
-As part of the Circuit Team, at the customer and company sites, collect electrical information to set up system schematics, understanding and implementing customer processes.
-Analyze device design transmittals and assure requirements are met.
-Generate and customize design systems interface & outputs to support ECAD/MCAD process
-Meet customer EDS specification in regards with wire dimensioning & fuse selection.
-Development of logical and physical schematics.
-Design electrical circuits using modern ECAD Development–Tools such us Capital Tools - Logic, Integrator, Harness XC or E3 (Zuken).
-Understand and design vehicle electrical topology.
-Design of fusing strategy and power distribution.
-Prepare mark-up drawings for electrical schematics and engineering change
documentation using Customer and Company Systems.

*Complexity Development
-Review customer marketing requirements and develop Complexity to meet KSK (Customer specific Harness designs) requirements.
-Create required KSK Modules and harness derivatives and review harness partitioning.
-Ensure harness selection for the vehicles is aligned with the customer orders.
-Create Cost Control Modules.
-Calculate take rates for each KSK module and harness derivatives.

*Design Verification
-Support system audits with system owners.
-Ensure circuit schematics adhere to customer SDS requirements.
-Perform circuit validations prior DSI release (such us multi-crimps, splices, inlines, grounds, circuit option codes, etc).
-Analyse voltage drops and fuse blow percentages on the relevant circuits using simulation tools or spreadsheets.
-Prototype and mass production build support at the customer and company manufacturing plants.

*General EDS Design
-Working with overseas teams.
-Participate in VA/VE activities.
-Participate in benchmarking activity.
-Develop new tools to improve working efficiency.
-Follow the department Quality System procedures and instructions.
-Communicate with company affiliates for information exchange
(Prepare cost break down sheet and issue to establish the cost of a revision
or option.
-Instruct and train new staff.

Qualifications and Experience ideally required:
-Should ideally be educated to Degree level in Automotive, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, although lesser qualifications with plenty of relevant experience may also be considered.
-In terms of experience, you should ideally have previously worked as a Systems Engineer, involved in Electrical Systems Design, ideally within the Automotive manufacturing industry.
-You should have experience in schematics drafting and Harness Complexity (KSK and non-KSK).
-Should understand AIMS, ECR’s and WERS Release processes.
-Should understand quality and reliability methods (FMEA, 8D).
-Should have Wiring Harness CAD knowledge.
-Project Management and strong analytical skills essential.
-You will offer good overall skills in Microsoft Office.
-Should be prepared on occasion to travel nationally and internationally, be legally able to work in the UK and have a valid driving licence and passport.
